Marc Jampolsky’s docu-drama „Gutenberg – Genie und Geschäftsmann“ is a portrait of the inventor of the letterpress; a man at the verge of a new epoche who turns out to have been a tenacious troublemaker, a daring and shrewd businessman, an enthusiastic inventor and a pleasure-loving bon viveur.

The film explores the elements impeding and eventually enabling Gutenberg’s invention which served as the starting point for the information society that we still enjoy today.
